Shalom, this study concerns the question, are we walking in the light, or are we walking in darkness?
Psalm 119:105 - Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:130 - The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
Yes, YHWH's Word is Light, so to walk in YHWH's Word is to walk in the Light.
Isaiah 9:2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
Wisdom is light
Proverbs 2:10-15 When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, 11 discretion shall keep you, understanding shall watch over you, 12 to deliver you from the evil way, from the man who speaks perverse things, 13 those who leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, 14 who rejoice to do evil, they delight in the perversities of the wicked, 15 whose paths are crooked, who are devious in their tracks
If people are walking in darkness, they will surely stumble
Proverbs 4:19 - The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
Light and darkness are often compared in the Word of YHWH. Most will agree that light is good, but is darkness necessarily evil?
John 3:19-21 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in Elohim."
Luke 11:34-35 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. 35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.
Some might say that the above examples are spiritual comparisons, and they do not apply to the physical light and darkness of the actual day and night. But, can it be shown that it applies also to the physical?
Genesis 1:3-5 And Elohim said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 And Elohim saw the light, that it was good: and Elohim divided the light from the darkness. 5 And Elohim called the light 'day', and the darkness he called 'night.' And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, one day.
Notice that YHWH called the light 'day'. He did not call the darkness 'day.'
Yahushua said in John 11:9-10...
"Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. 10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him."
So, there are two witnesses, that the light is day, and Yahushua also said that there are 12 hours to a day.
We have established that darkness, in both the spiritual and the physical sense, is not good. Paul encourages us to be the children of the light...
1 Thessalonians 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Isaiah speaks of how YHWH's people have strayed toward the ways of the world!...
Isaiah 5:13 - Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

Ephesians 5:6-13 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of YHWH upon the children of disobedience. 7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them. 8 For ye were at one time darkness, but now are ye in the light of YHWH: walk as children of light: 9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth). 10 Proving what is acceptable unto YHWH. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. 13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
Are we letting our light shine? Yahushua said...
Luke 11:33-36 "No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light. 34 The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness. 35 Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. 36 If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light."
Yahushua is the light of life...
John 1:4-5 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Darkness does not comprehend the light; in other words, darkness does not understand the light.
Isaiah 5:20 - Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Beware of those who love darkness...
2 Corinthians 6:14-16 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath the Messiah with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of YHWH with idols? for ye are the temple of the living Elohim; as YHWH hath said, "I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their Elohim, and they shall be my people."
The family of YHWH...
Ephesians 3:14-15 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Master Yahushua Messiah, 15 of whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.
This is one thing that so many in
Christianity do not see, the importance of the name of the Heavenly Father and
His son! We need to pray that our Heavenly Father will open their eyes so that
they will see.
Isaiah 8:20 - To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
John 8:12 - Then spake Yahushua again unto them, saying, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."
Yahushua is our great example, He is the living breathing Word of YHWH! Yahushua said that we are the light of the world...
Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the light of the world. It is not possible to hide a city that is built on a mountain. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under the bushel, but on the lamp stand; and it shines for all those in the house. 16 So let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works, and may honor your Father in Heaven."
Yahushua is our Rabbi...
Matthew 10:24-25 "A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a slave above his master. 25 It is enough for the disciple to become as his teacher, and the slave as his master. If they called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more those of his household?"
To keep Yahushua's Words should be our ultimate goal...
John 8:31-32 Then said Yahushua to those Jews which believed on him, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
Why Yahushua came into the world...
John 9:39-41 And Yahushua said, "For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind."
40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, "Are we blind also?"
41 Yahushua said unto them, "If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, 'We see,' therefore your sin remaineth."
The scribes and Pharisees were hypocrites; in other words, they were pretending to be righteous, when in fact they were evil...
Matthew 23:1-3 Then spake Yahushua to the multitude, and to his disciples, 2 Saying, "The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: 3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not."
Yahushua encourages us...
John 12:35-36 Then Yahushua said unto them, "Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness overtake you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. 36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light."
Yahushua also said...
John 9:4-5 "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
Yahushua spoke to the multitudes in parables...
Matthew 13:10-12 And the disciples came, and said unto him, "Why speakest thou unto them in parables?"
11 He answered and said unto them, "Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath."
Then Yahushua proceeds to explain to his
disciples, in private, the meaning of the parable.
Here again we can see the difference between
those who are walking in the light and those who are walking in darkness.

Proverbs 6:20-22 My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: 21 Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck. 22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
At times it is difficult to take correction...
Hebrews 12:5-6 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of YHWH, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom YHWH loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Paul encourages us that we are of the light and not of the darkness...

YHWH is light, and in Him is no darkness at all
1 John 1:4-7 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that YHWH is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Yahushua the Messiah his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
In that day, YHWH shall be our everlasting Light
Isaiah 60:19-22 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but YHWH shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy Elohim thy glory. 20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for YHWH shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. 21 Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be honoured. 22 A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I YHWH will hasten it in his time.
If we are faithful, then we shall also be chosen
1 Peter 2:9-10 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a set-apart nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of YHWH: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
