Do We Trust YHWH?

Shalom everyone. Since none of us are perfect, this study applies to everyone. This is not a study on specifics, but rather, it has to do with having our hearts right with YHWH.

Proverbs 3:5 - Trust in YHWH with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Question: What does it mean to trust YHWH? And what does it mean to lean unto thine own understanding?

Proverbs 14:12 - There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Proverbs 12:15 - The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

It appears that "leaning unto your own understanding" is sin...

Proverbs 16:2 - All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but YHWH weigheth the spirits.

Proverbs 16:3 - Commit thy works unto YHWH, and thy thoughts shall be established.

These are very important verses found in the Proverbs. Do we trust YHWH with all our heart, or do we lean to our own understanding? I know of instances where brothers and sisters (including myself) will do something, because it seems to make logical sense, but upon closer examination, it becomes apparent that it is not in unity with the Word of YHWH.

How are we to relate to the individual members of the body of the Messiah? Yahushua said in John 13:34....

John 13:34 - "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another."

How did Yahushua love us?

John 15:13 - "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

That is what our master did for us!!

Let us now go to the Torah. Here, YHWH says...

Leviticus 19:17 - "Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him. 18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am YHWH."

Yahushua said...

Luke 17:1 - Then said he unto the disciples, "It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! 2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. 3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. 4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, 'I repent,' thou shalt forgive him."

When Yahushua talks about offences coming, he is talking about someone who causes another to sin. This is an extremely important subject (causing someone to sin). We do need to pray for wisdom and humility in our dealings with others. And if we have a problem with a brother or a sister, we better get it resolved! Yahushua said...

Matthew 18:15 - "Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the assembly: but if he neglect to hear the assembly, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. 18 Verily I say unto you, 'Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.'"

Yahushua said that if your brother has 'anything' against you...

Matthew 5:23 - "Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 24  Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift."

Proverb 15:28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

Proverbs 15:29 YHWH is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous. 30 The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat. 31 The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise. 32 He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. 33 The fear of YHWH is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

We are called to be servants of our Heavenly Father...

Ephesians 4:1 - I, therefore, the prisoner of Yahushua, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace...

Ephesians 4:11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of the Messiah, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of YHWH, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Messiah; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting...

Notice what Shaul said...That we are to be in the unity of the spirit (v. 3) until we come into the unity of the faith (v. 13)

Colossians 3:12 - Put on therefore, as the elect of YHWH, set apart and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as the Messiah forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness 15 And let the peace of Elohim rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of the Messiah dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with favor in your hearts to YHWH. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Leader Yahushua, giving thanks to YHWH the Father through him.

Psalms 37:3 - Trust in YHWH, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Thank YOU FATHER!!....

In this age of permissiveness, we must trust YHWH with our whole heart...

Proverbs 22:15 - Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Proverbs 13:24 - He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes (often).

rod is Strong's #H07626....it is a stick

Proverbs 19:18 - Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

Proverbs 23:13 - Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. 14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from the grave.

Proverbs 29:15 - The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

Proverbs 29:17 - Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

We as adults are supposed to have temperance and self control, children on the other hand, do not have these tools to battle human nature...

Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Deuteronomy 6:6 - And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

And we must remember that we are all children of YHWH...

Proverbs 3:11 - My son, despise not the chastening of YHWH; neither be weary of his correction: 12 For whom YHWH loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Hebrews 12:7 - If you endure chastening, YHWH deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?

We can say that we love YHWH and believe in following the Torah, but remember...

James 2:17 - Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one Elohim. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?

It is YHWH's desire that we all trust him with all our heart, and that we do not lean unto our own understanding...

2Kepha 3:9 - YHWH is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

May YHWH bless you all
